The Timeless Sherlock Holmes

Today was The Timeless Sherlock Holmes a mini-conference in conjunction with the first weekend opening of “Sherlock Holmes: The Exhibition” at the Minnesota History Center and it was fabulous! Lots of great speakers and the exhibition was so much fun with lots of interactive activities and artifacts. The mini-conference was presented by the Norwegian Explorers of Minnesota, the Friends of the Sherlock Holmes Collections, and the Minnesota Historical Society.

Todays speakers:

9:30-10:30am
“A Study in Splatter: Behind the Scenes of the International Exhibition of Sherlock Holmes” with New York Times bestselling author Daniel Stashower.

10:30–11:30 am
“Dr. Philip S. Hench at Mayo Clinic and in the Company of Mr. Sherlock Holmes” with Matthew Dacy (Mayo Clinic) and Timothy Johnson (curator of the Sherlock Holmes Collections at the University of Minnesota).

12:00–1:00 pm
“Forensic Science and Sherlock: The Exhibition” with local forensics consultant Steven Swenson, Minnesota BCA

1:00–2:00 pm
“Sherlock Holmes on Stage and Screen” with playwright and screenwriter Jeffrey Hatcher

“Be transported into Sherlock Holmes’ London to solve a possible murder in a world filled with innovation and experimentation. Sherlock Holmes: The Exhibition will delight visitors of all ages with interactive crime-solving opportunities, original manuscripts, period artifacts, and investigative tools influenced and used by Sherlock Holmes. This exhibit showcases areas of forensic science that enabled Sherlock Holmes to solve crimes, and brings to life the historic underpinnings of author Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s rich and vibrant stories.
