Today was my first doctors appointment post-surgery. They unwrapped the foot, looked at it, and wrapped it up again. It was nice to see all the toes and that they are still there (you just never know). I was hoping the stitches would be removed but no, next week. So I am not “walking” yet, more of a weird shuffle on the heel, but at least I am mostly past the crutches/walker stage. I hate crutches! We discussed the surgery and apparently the Doctor did not use a little chisel to remove the hardware (the plate and 5 little screws) like I thought she said. She said the hardware came off nicely and so no chisel was needed. She also found that the muscles were enlarged and one of the tendons was 3x its normal size and had fanned out like a paint brush. Feet are so weird! Resting and recovery continue…
