February 2023 Reads

Lots of fun reading in February despite the snow. Did I mention the snow? Its been a really long winter. Despite said snow, I ended up reading 6 books this month. Those Vicki Delany mysteries are so much fun. Read them! The books and the links to buy them are listed below.

Remember life is way too short to read a book that you don’t like, so read what interests you. Happy reading!

There’s A Murder Afoot: A Sherlock Holmes Bookshop Mystery: Book 5 by Vicki Delany – Gemma and friends are off to London for a Sherlock Holmes convention and murder happens. Especially fun are updates from the Bookstore and how they are dealing with Gemma’s absence (not well) and we also get to meet Gemma’s family – including her sister Pippa who works for an unnamed British government agency (a Pippa spinoff is needed).

The Fountain Pen Collector’s Dream by Sir Benedict Wilson – basically a book of photos of beautiful fountain pens.

A Scandal in Scarlet: A Sherlock Holmes Bookshop Mystery: Book 4 by Vicki Delany – a charity auction takes place at Mrs. Hudson’s Tea Room and soon a murder happens.

The Marriage of Mary Russell by Laurie R. King – an adorable short story about Mary Russell and Sherlock Holmes’s getting married.

Star Trek: The Next Generation: Q are Cordially Uninvited by Rudy Josephs – the wedding of Jean-Luc Picard and Beverly Crusher and party crasher Q. Published back in 2014, so it does not fall in the new Picard timeline, but still a fun story.

The Cat of the Baskervilles: A Sherlock Holmes Bookshop Mystery: Book 3 by Vicki Delany – a stage production of The Hounds of the Baskervilles is in town and murder soon happens. Sidekick Jayne’s mom is accused of murder and so Gemma and Jayne are on the case.
