Today I attend the lecture/public address “Peace Through Inner Peace” by His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama. He is in Minnesota for a series of visits and talks called “One Heart, One Mind, One Universe.”
Exactly ten years ago, I also attended another lecture by the Dalai Lama when he was in Minnesota for the first time. I remembered that he gave a nice talk, but I did not remember how funny he is. He had the audience howling with laughter a few times today. Both times there were huge crowds, but this time there were also souvenirs to buy (which is always fun). Last time I attended with Michelle and Melissa L-B, and this time Cece and I went. Cece and I were also able to get our cameras (its not my fault if they dont check all the compartments in my purse) inside, something we were not able to do ten years ago.
The Dalai Lama is a remarkable person. One question he was asked today was “is the world getting better or worse”? His response was that in 1996 he asked Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother, who was 96 at the time, that exact same question, and her response was that the world is getting better. His response was that that the world was also getting better, due to education, compassion, freedoms, etc.
