Congratulations go out today to Madeline for passing her dissertation proposal defense today and in doing so once again beating the curse of Shaggy’s.
The title of Madeline’s dissertation is: “Natural Disasters in Latin America: The Role of Disaster Type and Productive Sector on the Urban-Rural Income Gap and Rural to Urban Migration” and after passing she took time to look at the turtles and had lunch at Shaggy’s. Shaggy’s is a cursed restaurant to the unsuspecting PhD student, as on a bright sunny day many, many years ago a group of bright eyed PhD students took in the sights and a lovely meal there. Out of 6 PhD students to have dinner that day, only 3 have survived to tell the tale.
