Back to Mississippi

This weekend I am back in Mississippi for spring semester PhD finals. Today was a long day of travel and despite a snowstorm in Minnesota, I had no travel issues or delays. Which was nice. There was one moment of travel craziness was when the guy sitting next to me on the flight to Atlanta somehow managed to drop his iPad and his glass of tomato juice. He rescued the iPad and spilled the tomato juice all over the place and on my pants leg and jacket. So on the next flight from Atlanta to Gulfport I asked the guy sitting next to me if he planned on ordering tomato juice and he said no and that he was not a fan and there were no further tomato incidents.

When I was getting the rental car the agent asked if I was interested in upgrading from my tiny economy car to a Mustang! I always get the economy car. As I did not say no, she mentioned how its a fun car, the weather is suppose to be nice this weekend, and she ran the numbers and the extra expense was not too much, so I said yes and rented a MUSTANG! Its a weird car. Very beautiful, but tiny on the inside and big and bulky on the outside. Sadly its a new 2013 and not a classic Mustang.

Today was Comprehensive Examination day for my PhD program and my friend Issam passed and received the legendary IDV PhD challenge coin! Congratulations Issam!!!!

One of my favorite places here in Gulfport is Juan Tequila’s, so Madeline (2 weeks and counting to Madeline and Brian’s wedding) and I went for dinner and we were so close to finishing, but did not eat fast enough to leave before they started karaoke. Sadly, and I will be haunted by this for years, on a previous visit I was subjected to preteens belting out Christian music on the karaoke machine and on another visit a really, really bad cover band. Bad music is often the price one pays for good food.
