The root canal

Long, very long, story short. After my old female dentist retired back in 2019 and I had a referral for a new dentist and that turned out horribly. The new male dentist was an idiot/jerk and let his dental assistant put in a filling which she apparently did not know how to do, did wrong, and destroyed my tooth. Then they put on a crown and I was in pain for months and months and said I needed a root canal. They did not try to fix the problem and did not try to save the tooth. After destroying my tooth and the fact that I heard there front desk worker be rude to a person on the phone asking about dental insurance made me start looking for a new dentist. This past spring/summer I found a new dentists, yes another referral from a family friend, and now have a new awesome female dentist who believed that the tooth could be saved. Flash forward a few months and things seemed to be settling down, but it’s 2020 and nothing good can happen. The pain started to get worse this past weekend and as my face became swollen and infected and so I went in and learned that the root was dead or dying, there was just too much damage from the crown, and I needed a root canal. So that fun activity happened today. Here are the before and after photos of my poor little tooth – note the three new dead roots above the crown.

I don’t understand why in this day and age: 1) it’s so hard to find a good dentist, 2) why going to the dentist is so expensive, 3) why don’t we have better dental technology.
