Today the Minnesota Chapter of the 99s had a meeting at Inflight Pilot Training hanger at the Flying Cloud Airport. Every Saturday morning at 8am (which meant that I had to be up this morning at 6am to be there for the 8am talk!), Inflight has a aviation lecture and today’s was on steep turns. Ben the owner did a great presentation and if I lived near the Flying Cloud Airport, I think that Inflight would be a great place to learn to fly. After the Saturday lecture on steep turns, the MN Chapter of the 99s hosted WASP Liz Strohfus to give a lecture. I met Liz (90 years young and going strong) last year at the 99s Holiday party and I was very happy to see that she is as spunky as ever! She also gives a great presentation and even talked about going to Washington DC to receive the Congressional Gold Medal with the remaining WASP’s this past March. Liz’s son Patrick Roberts has written a book about her life “And Still Flying…The Life and Times of Elizabeth “Betty” Wall” which I purchased and she signed for me. Later at the 99 meeting, Liz showed off a fantastic bag that someone designed for her. It has photos of her in various airplanes from WWII!
