So last week I was doing a little spring cleaning and I finally found my first royalty statement for The Machiavellian Librarian. The grand total was £0.85!
Now lets remember that pound sterling and dollar are not created equal, so basically the royalties are about $1.46 US. Wow! Now before you start to say ‘but what is Melissa going to do with that amount which will not even buy her a coffee at Starbucks,’ well my friend, lets remember that I co-authored the book, so I am only entitled to half of that $1.46, so about $0.73! Also it was a statement and no check has been issued and I don’t see any checks being issued in the foreseeable future. Sadly the The Machiavellian Librarian is not leading to fame, fortune, or the Pulitzer as I had hoped. Lets just say I am not giving up my day jobs any time soon.
