Richard Leakey

I was saddened to learned that famed paleoanthropologist and conservationist Richard Leakey has died. He was 77. It was due to Leakey, and really all the Leakey’s, that we know so much about the early hominids, but especially Homo habilis and Homo erectus. I attended his lecture ‘Origins Reconsidered’ and reception back on May 21, 1994 with my sister at the old Bell Museum of Natural History at the University of Minnesota. This was during my archaeology phase and I would drag my sister to things, such as this talk and also one by Jane Goodall (yes, Michelle you’re welcome).
