Phyl Erickson

Sadly Mom and I attended the funeral for family friend Phyl Erickson today. We had just seen Phyl and Bill this past summer when we stopped over for a visit, otherwise, Phyl and Bill were a staple at the annual 4th of July parties and they were at my Ph.D. graduation party two years ago. She was such a wonderful lady and will be missed.

Phyllis Irene Erickson, known to her loved ones as, Phyl, peacefully passed away surrounded be her family on September 22, 2023, at the age of 88 in Coon Rapids Minnesota. Phyl was born on August 4, 1935, in Litchfield, Minnesota, to parents Sylvester and Rosella (Meierhofer) Quast. She is preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Lovern Quast, Arlene Hanson, Eugene Quast; grandson Adam Erickson.

Phyl graduated from Litchfield High School in 1953. After graduation she moved to Minneapolis and worked for Target Corporation for 24 years. In 1956 she married Willis Erickson at St. Gertrude Catholic Church in Forest City, MN. From this union three children completed their family; Jeff (partner Darleen Bradley), Susan (Omar Guimaraes), and Lori (Scott Clark).
She is survived by her loving husband of 67 years; children; four grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; sister Diane (Franklin Vorlicek), along with many nieces and nephews.
Phyl was a founding member of the Epiphany Catholic Church in Coon Rapids where she worshiped and was actively involved in Eucharistic Ministry, Women’s Circle, and the many music programs including the Schola Choir.

She eagerly involved herself in a variety of community organizations some of which included, the Miss America Program – both at the local and the state level, the Lions, the Jaycees and the VFW Auxillary.

Phyl’s presence will be deeply missed, but her spirit will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. May she rest in eternal peace.
