Nichelle Nicholas, aka Uhura, passed away today at 89. I once saw her at a Star Trek convention back in the 1990s. She knew how to work a crowd! She told stories, she made people laugh, and she sang. I think I have autograph somewhere and maybe even a audiocassette of her songs. A great lady.
