My Mom writes a Letter to the Editor!

Back in July my Mom wrote a ‘Letter to the Editor’ to the local newspaper about the crazy construction that was taking place down the road and the many issues about it (the house constantly shaking, large orange construction cones were placed in driveways and on the street one time at 4am on a Monday morning with lights flashing and people yelling, dust everywhere, no mail, construction signs left right next to driveways making it hard for people to see out of their driveways, one day the water was cut and no one said anything, and did I mention the no mail was received as the USPS refused to deliver or even drive on the street (The Post Office refused to deliver mail, for weeks and week and then Mom got into an argument with them about how long they can ‘hold’ mail). Complaints to “E” construction company and the City Hall did not help. So Mom wrote the letter. Next I cleaned it up to make it more readable. Then she sent it off to a reporter at the local news paper and got back a message that the newspaper lawyers did not like some parts and had edited it down. Ok. Somethings were changed, names removed, but it was ok. Then we waited and waited for it to be published and nothing. Next Mom emails the reporter and we learn that it was just published in paper and not online, so the reporter kindly sent an electronic copy. This electronic copy is TOTALLY different from any of the previous versions and does not have Mom’s voice at all. Needles to say, Mom was a bit cranky about this whole process and says she will never write a Letter to the Editor again. Life in a little city.
