For the past few years my Mom has wanted to skydive. So after my Dad died Mom started to think about skydiving again and wanted to go last year. However I said no as I did not want to be an orphan. It was too soon. So this Mother’s Day Che and I got her a gift certificate from Skydive Twin Cities (my friend Bill recommended them after he went skydiving with them a few years ago) for a tandem jump with video and photos (if you skydive do need to spend the extra money and get the photos and video package. You will regret not having images of yourself flying through the air if you don’t. Plus documentation is always good).
So Mom mentioned the jump to family friend Christopher who decided he wanted to jump. He also got his friend Dan to jump (there was another friend of Christopher’s that signed up, but he decided to go to a wedding instead. Right). Next family and friends were invited and the day arrived. After checking in, the three (Mom, Christopher, and Dan) watched a video, signed a ton of papers, and then got some instructions which Mom promptly forgot. Mom and Christopher went up in the first plane. The guy that Mom jumped with was Carl and he was really nice. It only took about 30 minutes or so from going up in the plane to her landing. She was up at 11,000 feet when they jumped and it was about 3 minutes or so for her to land. It was really fun to see her parachute way up in the sky and slowly get bigger. She was excited, nervous, and not scared, but she was really pale when she landed. Christopher was practically jumping around after he landed. Dan went up in the second plane and cut his leg on the airplane. Both Christopher and Dan were ready to go again, but Mom will need a few years to go again. Mom brought champagne, so there was a champagne toast and Mom received her official certificate!
