Today was the MN 99s Business Meeting, our last one before the big Fall Sectional Meeting which the MN 99s are hosting in September. We met in the EAA Chapter #237 building, which I had drive by dozens of times, but had never been in before. Its pretty cool with lots of aviation decorations/items everywhere. We had a full house with 16 people, so a great group of lady pilots. Unfortunately I arrived late due to having to buy new tires this morning, after having to find a tire store that was open and could squish in my car for an appointment. Tire store number two could get me in today. Apparently having tires that are showing the cords and with no treads are bad. So it was a good thing I had an oil change last night and that they looked at the tires and noticed how bad they were (bad as in ‘its dangerous to drive’ bad). So busy morning. Busy but great, because Tracy, who flew in the Air Race Classic a few months ago, brought me back a souvenir! A personalized autographed photo of 92 year old WASP Florence “Shutsy” Reynolds and she wrote “To Melissa, With eyes on the stars. Shutsy Reynolds WASP WWII’! How totally cool is that! Those WASPs are such great women and great pilots (remember they had no modern electronics, GPS, weather radar, and hostile male pilots to deal with) and they are still spunky after all these years. Thank you Tracy! I also got a get well gift bag from Cheryl with a card and airplane watch keychain from Oshkosh and some great smelling lotion. Thank you Cheryl!
