If a tree falls in the backyard….

One of those days.

I woke up to a swollen and painful foot this morning. Apparently I overdid it yesterday with permission to remove the boot now that the stitches were out. I also think that not elevating it, as I was at my computer most of the day, also played a part in the swollen mess that was my foot, but I did ice.

So besides a swollen and painful foot I woke up to a chirping noise. Fire detector reminding all to replace the battery. After listing to it chirp for a few hours and the cats not happy with the new noise, I eventually tracked down the fire detector in the basement and as luck would have it, it was the tallest one and one that I could not reach and there are no chairs in the basement (not that I would have stood on the chair, but it was a thought). So I called the wonderful neighbors who came over to take down the offending noise.

About 30 minutes later I am sitting down and getting ready to eat a late lunch and I hear a swoosh and a thump. Something fell outside. Great. So I hobble to the window and look and yep a tree has fallen down. Next thing I know the other neighbor is at the door telling me a tree had fallen down, was anyone outside, and is everyone ok. Luckily no one was outside or hurt. No wind. No storms. The tree just decided that today is a good day to fall down.

So to answer the eternal question of if a tree falls in the forest and no one is around to see it, does it make a noise. And the answer is yes. No one was around to see the three fall, but I still heard it inside the house and over the TV.

One of those kinds of days.
