IDV Florida Day #2 Seersucker Friday!

Day #2 in Florida!

Friday October 7th was another really long 14 hour day at the Midterm In-Person. There was another group of fantastic speakers, but this time we were not at the Air Force Base. Today’s events were held at the Ramada Beach Plaza, which had a wonderful view of the beach and white sands, which we could look at during breaks.

Today was also Seersucker Friday! I know, weird, but fun. Dr J.J. St. Marie is a big fan of Seersucker outfits, so one of the new PhD students Dave D suggested ‘Seersucker Friday’, much like ‘The Congressional Seersucker Thursday’ tradition, as a way create a IDV tradition, have some fun, and be “stylish” as well (yes “stylish” was the word used in an email sent out to everyone about ‘Seersucker Friday’). The email about this new tradition was sent out a few days before I left for Florida and as Minnesota is not a state known for its Seersucker fashion, especially in October, so I had to ask around for a Seersucker shirt. Thanks Janet for the almost-Seersucker shirt! A few people wore Seersucker and it was a fun thing to do.
