Hi Raghavi, I don’t know. Sorry. That would be a good question to ask the CORe Program. I would recommend taking the final exam anyways, because you have already paid for the program, it will be a good experience to take an exam in that format, and you have nothing to lose by trying. I wish you good luck on the exam and I do hope that you pass the class, Melissa

    Hi Melissa,
I just took my final and I’m incredibly anxious about waiting 60 days for my results. I’m curious…Did you miss any assignments? My grades on quizzes were not stellar and I fear my final exam grades won’t be either. 🙁

Hi Amber, I completed all my assignments and quizzes. The 60 days will fly by and I am sure you will have some good news. Did you find it a positive experience overall? I still feel it was a positive experience, but I think the final exam was much harder than the assignments and quizzes and it did not need to be. Just remember that its just one MOOCs online class, so don’t let it stop you from doing what you want to do. Melissa

    Hi Melissa,
What were your quiz averages in each section if you don’t mind me asking? I had good quiz averages, but think I bombed the final I took this week. Curious if failing the final, but getting high scores on all quizzes will get me a passing score in the class.

Hi Jon, I don’t remember what my quiz scores were, but I think they were average. I wish you all the best with the class. Melissa

    Hi Melissa,

I also failed Core recently. My quiz averages were pretty high (all above 75%). But I don’t know what were my marks for the final exam. Did HBX provide you with any justification as to why you failed?

    Hi Diana,
I am sorry to hear that you failed the Core. There was no feedback on the final exam. But that was 4 years ago and I don’t know how much they have changed and updated the program. I hope that you hear from them, but if not, you might want to send them an email. Melissa

I also failed Core. I did great on the quizzes but choked on the final exams. That, combined with their curved grading system, lead to me failing the program. Unfortunately, they do not allow you to take it again.
Should I not thus not mention the program when applying to grad schools?

    Hi Josie,

I am sorry that you did not pass the Core. I believe they should redesign their grading system. I would not mention it when applying to grad schools unless it comes up. You always want to highlight the positive when applying for graduate school, so be sure to list all your other amazing qualities and accomplishments. Don’t be sad about not passing. I am not. It was a good learning experience, you tried something new, and you still learned the material.

    All the best,
    Melissa

    Hi Melissa,
I am set to take the HBS CORe final in just a few days and do not feel confident at all. I am scared to fail since I chose the undergraduate credit option for my employer to cover it. I must ask, did you end up going to Business school after CORe? If so, did it come up in conversation?

    Hello Sad Anon,
No, I did not go on to Business School, but I did go on to finish my PhD. The CORe is just one class or one test you will take in your life, so don’t be too hard on yourself. You will go on to do much more interesting and fun things in your education and life.
I wish you all the best,
    Melissa
