Happy Retirement Del!

Today was the last day of work and the retirement party (Zoom retirement parties are now a thing) for my co-worker and officemate Doctor Delbert Reed aka Del. I talked to Del everyday at work and will miss the books of philosophy lying around the office, the discussions on 101 different topics (books, politics, movies, tv shows, sports, the library, the UMN, family, etc), and Del stories that usually ended with him saying something that should not have been said, to which my reply was usually ‘Ah Del, this is why we are going to be fired.” Haha. Del worked in the library for 40+ years as a student, then full time staff, and event got his PhD in Philosophy along the way. I will miss you Del.

Del autographed his book on Frege and Kant a few years ago for me and sadly, I still have not read it. Del had 3D printed one little head of Aristotle and then I 3D printed a few more as a surprise and put them above his desk to tease him. It took him a few days to notice! The other images include his library business card and a few screenshots from the Zoom retirement party.

Update from 12/6/2020

I printed off Del’s retirement book, had it bound, and mailed it to him this week. Here is the cover and the page with my best wishes.
