Raiders of the Lost Ark premiered 40 years ago today! This was back when if you didn’t see a movie at the theater you would not see it again for years and years. My Mom would take me and my sister out of school for good movies such as the Indiana Jones and Star Wars movies. I was interested in archaeology before seeing Raiders, the hook was reading a book on the treasure of King Tut, but Raiders probably cemented it. A wonderful movie, yes flaws and all, – then and now.

Back when Lucasfilm still owned everything, they had an online gift store. That’s where I got the poster and one of the idols which is a bank. The other idol came as a bootleg copy from a sci-fi convention back in the late 1980s or early 1990s. Ahh conventions back then were wonderful and filled with lots of unauthorized merchandise.
