‘Explore, Teach, Inspire’ with Dr. Aaron Doering

My Learning Technologies Instructor Dr. Aaron Doering gave a fantastic talk tonight for the College of Continuing Education Headliners Series here at the UMN, which I was fortunate to attend on my dinner break, called “Explore, Teach, Inspire: Taking Education and Innovation to the Next Level.” The blurb on tonight’s talk said: “learn how Doering’s passion for education and the environment have dramatically transformed the landscape of learning in classrooms throughout the world. From apps to the Arctic to the Amazon, come experience Doering’s daring new educational frontier” (http://www.cce.umn.edu/LearningLife/Headliners/).

I arrived a few minutes before the talk was to begin and gave my name to the front desk (Aaron kindly offered my class tickets to to the talk) and the ticket lady told me to follow her, as there was a table for Aaron’s students. So I followed and she pointed out a table in the 2nd row at the very front and I turned to her and said ‘Can’t I just sit in the back?’ and was told a firm no. So I went to the table and found my name on a seat. Ok, it was totally cool seeing a sign that said ‘Reserved Melissa A’ and considering there were around 100 people, it was a great spot to sit. I also got a chance to meeting Aaron’s wife Amy and their cute little son Eli, who I predict is going to be a photograph when he grows up, as the spent most of the lecture taking photographs. Then I made a mad dash for the door and returned to the library.
