Today was the Netflix premiere of the movie Enola Holmes and it’s just delightful. Fun and original, they have done a wonderful job of adapting Nancy Springer’s book. I read the Springer Enola books back in 2015 when I was recovering from foot surgery and always hoped that one day that they would make a movie out of the series. So it’s about time! There are 6 books in the series, so let’s hope we see another movie or two or five. Millie Bobby Brown plays a feisty and feminist Enola and Henry Cavill plays Sherlock. I can already hear some Sherlockians I know with different opinions, but I thought that Cavill did a wonderful job as our favorite consulting detective. There are some differences between the book and movie and as it’s been five years since I read the books, so I don’t remember if there was a romantic plot line between Enola and Tewksbury or not. I was disappointed in the loss of dear Watson. Movie adaptations often cut out people and plots that were in the books, but not having Watson? Still a must see for anyone looking for a fun mystery with great characters, for all fans of Holmes, and a fantastic cast. As a British film, don’t forget to play how many Harry Potter/Doctor Who cast members can you spot.
