Lots of fun reading in December 2022, as I managed to read 13 books and listen to 1 audio book. I finished up a few books that I had been reading for while and reread some holiday books that I try to read every year. The books and the links to buy them are listed below.
Remember life is way too short to read a book that you don’t like, so read what interests you. Happy reading!
A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens – I try to read about Scrooge and the three spirits every December.
Rules of Accusation: Star Trek: Deep Space Nine by Paula M. Block and Terry J. Erdmann – a delightful story staring Quark with cameos by Rom, Moogie, Zek, and a few other DS9’ers.
Devil’s Delight: An Agatha Raisin Mystery Book 33 by M. C. Beaton and R. W. Green – Another Agatha Raisin mystery and I am finding that Agatha is no longer growing as a character.
Faces of Christmas Past by Bill Holm – My favorite Minnesota essayist and poet writing about Christmas.
Murder Most Royal: Her Majesty the Queen Investigates Book 3 by S. J. Bennett – The third book in the series where the Queen investigates a hand that washes up near Sandringham. Currently only published in the UK, so I had to have it shipped across the pond.
The Adventure of the Blue Carbuncle by Arthur Conan Doyle – Holmes, Watson, a goose, and a shiny blue carbuncle at Christmas.
Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets by J. K. Rowling – Year Two for Harry, Ron, and Hermione. This one includes Dobby, Lockard, and Ginny’s first year at Hogwarts.
Bob Ross and Peapod the Squirrel by Robb Pearlman and illustrated by Bob Ross with Jason Kayser – Painter Bob Ross and a squirrel story.
The Shakespeare Codex by Terry Pratchett and adapted by Stephen Briggs – Another adaption of the Discworld books for the stage with Rincewind, Ridcully, Granny Weatherwax, Shakespeare and a few of his friends, the Librarian, a few other Discworld’ers, and some elves.
After the Rain by Nnedi Okorafor, adapted by John Jennings, and illustrated by David Brame – graphic novel about a strange incident.
Sunset at Blandings by P. G. Wodehouse – The last of Wodehouse’s novels set at Blandings.
Star Trek: Trek the Halls by Robb Pearlman and illustrated by Luke Flowers – Star Trek holidays book for kids and adults.
Murder in Williamstown by Kerry Greenwood – the newest Miss Fisher mystery and its another fun Fisher adventure! It came out in Australia and I ordered it from there, as I did not want to wait until 2023 to read it. Life is too short to wait for books to be published, read them while you can even if you have to order them from overseas.
**Audio book Star Trek: Picard: No Man’s Land: An Original Audio Drama by Kirsten Beyer and Mike Johnson – first audio book I have listened to. The story and voices were great, but I kept thinking, is there a transcript or a book? I guess I am not ready for audiobooks yet.
