I am one of those people who believe nothing good can happen on a Monday, but today was actually a good Monday (well as good as a Monday can be, especially one with little sleep). I had a ARLIS/NA (Art Libraries Society of North America) Twin Cities meeting today before work. It was held at the Highpoint Center for Printmaking. I had never been there before, so it was a really fun visit. We had a nice tour by its Executive Director Carla McGrath and Master Printer Cole Rogers showed us some great prints. You would not believe the amount of time, effort and the number of layers of paint that go into making a print. They are incredible works of art. They have some beautiful works of arts (including prints by Julie Mehretu and David Rathman) on display and the studio is incredible. Highpoint also has all sorts of programs for adult education classes, residency programs for printmakers, exhibits, etc. Its a very cool place to visit (see photos below).
Also at the ARLIS/NA – Twin Cities meeting I was voted in as the new Secretary/Treasurer for the January – December 2010 season!
