Visiting the archives

I have to moderate a talk/lecture on archives on Monday for class, so I decided a trip to my local archives was in order to get some photos for my PowerPoint. I love archives. They have such fun and uniquely wonderful items. So the first thing I asked to see was Charles Darwin’s On The Origin of Species as its a beautiful 1st edition from 1859 (I had seen it before, but its always fun to say hello to Chuck!) and I also got to hold it! Then I was off to see some other really cool items (diaries from Clara Barton, an Albrecht Durer book with illustrations from woodblocks from 1528, but I could not find the Florence Nightingale book) and take some photos of the collection.
