My sister Michelle and I signed up for a three weekend (Saturday and Sunday 9am-6pm) TESOL/TESL/TEFL certification class and today was Day #1. Its via Oxford Seminars and meets on the Macalester College campus (which is a beautiful campus in the summer, but not so much in the middle of winter when they do a very bad job of plowing and shoveling the sidewalks). It was a really long day, but the instructor Wendy is wonderful and the class is an interesting mix of teachers, non-teachers, native English speakers, and non-native Englisher speakers. Today’s topics included: culture shock, effective teachers, ineffective teachers, multiple intelligence, and diverse learners.
