Finally! Miss Fisher and the Crypt of Tears finally premiered on Acorn TV here in the United States on Monday March 23, 2020. An Australian movie of the famed detective Phryne Fisher, the movie originally came out in Australia on February 27, 2020. It had a few theater showings here in the United States in March and more were to come in April, but sadly I think the pandemic might have cancelled them. So I purchased Acorn TV via Amazon Prime for a month, otherwise my other option was to got to Acorn.tv and get a free subscription for a week.

The official synopsis of the film: “In her debut cinematic adventure, join detective-extraordinaire, the Hon. Miss Phryne Fisher, as she embarks on a globe-trotting romp of mystery and mayhem across the exotic 1920s deserts of the Negev, glamorous manor-house ballrooms, and the darkened back alleys of London. After freeing a young Bedouin girl, Shirin Abbas, from her unjust imprisonment in Jerusalem, Miss Fisher begins to unravel a wartime mystery concerning a priceless jewel, an ancient curse and the truth behind the suspicious disappearance of Shirin’s forgotten tribe” (https://missfisher.roadshow.com.au/synopsis/).
The movie was wonderful. It was like a long tv episode but with more adventure, excitement, costumes, airplanes, cars, houses, locations, fun, and lots of Phryne added in. You do not need to have watched any of the Miss Fisher’s Murder Mysteries TV shows to understand the plot. It totally stands alone as its own movie, but go back and watch the TV shows first. They are so much fun and filled with little easter eggs like…she lives at 221B!
Years ago I was a small backer of the film and so over the past few years I have received emails with updates and at the very end of the film backers and supporters were thanked. How awesome is that! When you watch it, go all the way to the end to see my name in lights!
