June 2023 Reads

June was a very busy month and I ended up reading only 4 books. Four books! Yes, I am behind on my reading total for the year, but there is still plenty of time to get them in. The books and the links to buy them are listed below.

Remember life is way too short to read a book that you don’t like, so read what interests you. Happy reading!

Sherlock Holmes and the Missing Shakespeare: The Watson Files Book 1 by J.R. Rain and Chanel Smith – A fun new series with Holmes and Watson searching for a solen Shakespeare manuscript.

Rivers of London Vol. 10: Deadly Every After by created by Ben Aaronovitch, written by Celeste Bronfman, script edited by Andrew Cartmel, pencils by Joseph Maria Beroy, and inked by David Cabeza – A graphic novel telling the story of mischievous river goddesses Olympia and Chelsea. Fun and should have been longer, and not enough foxes.

Winter’s Gifts: A Rivers of London Novella by Ben Aaronovitch – I had to order this new book from the UK. It follows FBI Special Agent Kimberley Reynolds to Northern Wisconsin in the middle of winter. As many of my friends and relatives live in Wisconsin, I lived in Wisconsin for a few years and have visited most of my life, I found the Wisconsin scenes very well done, but I am not sure I would buy the character’s accents. Ya Sure You Betcha. Fu and should have been longer and sadly no foxes.

Divinity 36: Tinkered Starsong Book 1 by Gail Carriger – Carriger’s fun new series about a singing space barista Phex who gets recruited into trying out to be a signing god. Which is not as easy as one would expect. Set in the same universe as her other book Crudrat and The 5th Gender.
