6:30 Dinner @ Lookout Steakhouse
Today was a very easy going day with just one class. The best thing that happened was that the Department surprised us all by giving the PhD students a bunch of goodies (items that they believe will be of help with our classes. Previously we received The Chicago Manual of Style, Strunk and White’s Elements of Style, Turabian’s Manual for Writers, and STATA software) which included: The Dictionary of Human Geography, a digital voice recorder, a memory chip for the recorder, and a bag for the recorder). I also tried to rescue a turtle in the middle of the road as I was leaving campus. After I pulled the car over and started to pick the little turtle up, the car behind me yelled “Melissa its a snapping turtle,” and as it made a odd noise when I was picking it up, I quickly set it down again. So I was standing there, in the middle of the road, wondering what to do and yelling back to the car behind me “what should I do,” when some workers from USM came by and one of them kindly wrangled the turtle to the other side of the road. Not sure why the turtle was leaving the campus bayou, but later I also saw a guinea bird in the parking lot. Hmmm…whats up with the animals around campus? Dinner was held again at the Lookout Steakhouse.
