Today my Equity and Diversity Certificate arrived! The UMN’s Office of Equity and Diversity (OED) has a certificate program for staff, faculty, and students that “helps participants develop tools necessary for advancing equity and diversity in all aspects of their personal and professional lives” (https://diversity.umn.edu/equitydiversitycertificate). Last year I started taking their classes and took all 10 (@ 3 hours each) for the Basic Certificate. All of the classes were interesting, but some were really good. I especially like: “ Breaking the Glass Ceiling: Making the Case for Women’s Equity,” “Understanding Disability & Advancing Access,” “GLBTQ Identities and Communities” and “Engaging Universal Design Concepts to Increase Access and Inclusion.”
