New Pope

First there was one Pope, then we had no Popes, and now there are two Pope’s? Very confusing, but historically 3/13/13 will go down in history at the date an Argentinian was elected Pope – Pope Francis.

Historically it was also the first time social media documented the resignation and election of a new pope. I was sitting in a meeting watching a webcast taking place in Chicago, reading live Tweets from around the world and space (from the ISS) of what was happening in Rome and other places in-between, and then I was able to stream the event live from Rome on my iPhone. So I did not need to see Pope Francis talking to the crowed and the world in Rome for the first time, I had a better seat and in the library! Just think 600 years ago aka 1413 (there was no printing press until the 1440s from Gutenberg) it would have taken months if not years for the news of a new Pope to trickle out of Rome; 100 years ago aka 1913 radio was the new kid on the block and it would have taken hours and days; and today instance knowledge. Technology is truly amazing!
